Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hello, my name
is Wen Neyra. I am originally from Cuba, but my family relocated to
Arizona in the United States when I was two years old. I made the
move to California to chase my dreams in Fashion Marketing at FIDM. I
earned a Professional Designation Degree in Social Media at FIDM,
then went on to receive my Bachelor’s in Creative Industry Studies.
Despite fashion being a long-standing passion of mine, my career has
taken an unexpected turn, unrelated to the fashion realm. It is a
reminder for me that dreams can materialize in unexpected places. As
a result of my experience of moving to another country at a very
young age, I have developed an open-mindedness to new ideas and
opportunities. It has also helped me understand the importance of
taking risks and following my heart.
What made you choose FIDM for your MBA?
After
a rewarding undergraduate journey at FIDM, I decided to further my
education by pursuing a FIDM MBA. The choice was clear to me as I
recognized FIDM as the ideal place to advance my career to new
heights.
What sets FIDM apart is its roster of
industry professionals who bring first-hand insights into current
trends, business practices, and success strategies. The school
provides a realistic view of the industry, a perspective often missed
in traditional academic settings.
Additionally,
the school's network of alumni is vast, providing valuable mentorship
and support. This network is essential for success in the business
world, and I am confident that FIDM will help me reach my goals.
What is your favorite class so far?
In
particular, I enjoyed the Entrepreneurial Ergonomics class taught by
Mr. Selinske at FIDM. This course has proven to be a source of
immense inspiration and enlightenment for me. Each week, we are
privileged to engage with industry entrepreneurs who generously share
their experiences and insights, shedding light on their professional
journeys and the strategies they employed to attain success.
What do you want to do after you graduate?
Once I have
completed my studies, I would like to open my own business within the
interior design and construction industry. Presently, I am engaged as
a project manager within a reputable firm, where I have not only
acquired practical insights but also utilized the knowledge from my
academic pursuits at FIDM. These combined experiences have equipped
me with the expertise to embark on the journey of entrepreneurship in
the dynamic field of interior design and construction. My goal is to
leverage my accumulated skills, both professionally and
operationally, to establish and successfully operate my own business.
How is FIDM preparing you for your career goals?
FIDM
has equipped me for my career aspirations by providing the skills
needed to craft a compelling, cohesive, and engaging business plan
that is designed to captivate potential investors and clients alike.
Moreover, the program has provided me with the knowledge to
effectively manage and oversee the financial aspects of my future
business, as well as the insight into prudent investment practices.
FIDM has played a pivotal role in guiding me toward the right path
and empowering me with the essential tools to kickstart my own
business successfully.
Is there anything you would like to share with students
considering the FIDM MBA?
It is important for students to
know that an MBA is the next step towards furthering their careers.
Having completed an MBA will enhance both your career and your
personal development. In any industry, it is crucial to possess a
knowledge of business. By earning an MBA, you will gain
entrepreneurial skills that will help you to accomplish any goal you
have always desired. Additionally, an MBA will help you to gain
a better understanding of the global economy, as well as gain
valuable connections with professionals in your field. Overall, I
hope to inspire these students in the same way that my MBA experience
inspired me.
